Peshawar – The Afghan Consul General in Peshawar, Hafiz Mohibullah Shakir, has called on Afghan refugees to return to their homeland, saying that the current environment in Afghanistan under the Islamic Emirate is peaceful and suitable for resettlement.

Speaking at a press conference, Shakir stated that he met with the Taliban leadership on the second day of Eid and discussed the refugee issue. A special commission has been formed in Afghanistan to facilitate the return of Afghan refugees, he added.

He highlighted that a camp has been established near the Torkham border inside Afghanistan, where all necessary facilities are being provided to returning refugees.

“Afghan refugees migrated to Pakistan for the sake of Islam. They have spent over 40 years here,” said Shakir. “Now the situation has changed. There is peace, stability, and an Islamic government in Afghanistan. Refugees can return, invest, and live in peace.”

He emphasized that refugees should not worry, as the Afghan government is offering land to businessmen in Kunar and has created a favorable environment for trade and investment.

Shakir praised Pakistan for hosting refugees generously: “We lived freely in Pakistan and have no complaints.”

He also mentioned that Afghanistan is now free from foreign control. “Russia and America no longer govern us. We, the Afghans, are now rebuilding our country,” he said, adding that wealthy Afghans and businessmen are actively supporting returning families.

Regarding girls’ education, he clarified: “There is no ban on girls’ education in Afghanistan. There are women working in passport offices and other roles.”
