A British aerospace company, HR Smith Group’s “Tech Test” company, sold sensitive technology worth 2 million dollars to India, which was then transferred to Russia, according to the report.
HR Smith Group’s “Tech Test” company provided India with more than 70 pieces of highly sensitive ‘Tier 2’ prohibited technology in 2023-24, the report states.
The ‘Tier 2’ items include sensitive technologies for civilian and military purposes such as navigation, aerospace, radar, and advanced semiconductors, according to the report.
In 2023-24, the “Tech Test” company sent shipments of prohibited technology to Indian company Hindustan Aeronautics 118 times, the report adds.
Hindustan Aeronautics, in turn, sold the prohibited technology and components to Russian arms agency Rosoboronexport 13 times, the report reveals.
Rosoboronexport, which is under U.S. and U.K. sanctions, paid 14 million dollars for these technologies, the report states.
In September 2023, Hindustan Aeronautics sold the purchased sensitive parts to the Russian arms agency just 19 days after the purchase, according to the report.
In February 2024, technology sold by India was sent to Russia in just 18 days, the report adds.
Hindustan Aeronautics is considered the largest commercial partner of Rosoboronexport, according to the report.
The U.K. National Crime Agency issued a ‘Red Alert’ in 2023, warning business entities about the transfer of sensitive equipment to Russia, the report states.
Hindustan Aeronautics is listed as a Russian military supplier in the U.S. government’s database, the report confirms.
Providing sensitive technology to Russian military machinery is a violation of Western sanctions, the report concludes.
