Ottawa – Health Canada has asked provinces to destroy remaining last year’s Covid-19 vaccines supplies. The agency is working to get updated shots, some time in in October, per Ontario’s health ministry. A ministry statement read: “Vaccines will be available once Ontario receives supply from Health Canada following their regulatory authorization of the new, updated vaccine formulation.” The federal government’s immunization guide says vaccines for Omicron variant XBB.1.5 are not available in Canada any more. Updated shots, to target the dominant JN.1 or KP.2 strains will be given nod “in the coming weeks.”
